Every child deserves love, care, and the chance to thrive, no matter their past.

Healing and restoring the lives of orphaned children in Uganda through compassionate care, education, and emotional support.

Our Story

Rapha Orphans Organisation was founded with one powerful belief: every child deserves love, care, and the chance to thrive, no matter their past. Our founder, Ian Mukisa, knows this better than anyone as he was once an orphan himself.

Having grown up in a polygamous family, experiencing unequal treatment, limited resources, economic strain and identity confusion, the founder experienced the overwhelming pain of abandonment. Yet, in the face of hardship, they found hope through the kindness of others. This journey of healing inspired the creation of Rapha Orphans Organisation.

The name "Rapha" comes from the Hebrew word meaning "to heal" or "to restore" and this is our mission. At Rapha, we provide more than shelter and food. We restore children's futures, healing the wounds of abandonment and giving them a foundation of love, safety, and hope.

Each month, $500 is needed to support one child in our care. This amount provides for their basic needs: nutritious meals every day, a safe and loving home, education with school fees, books, and supplies, and healthcare with regular check-ups, medical treatment, and emotional support to ensure the child's physical and mental well-being.

Transforming lives and creating lasting change for orphaned children in Uganda

Today, Rapha Orphans Organisation operates in many districts of Uganda, providing direct support to over 50 orphans each year. The organisation has impacted thousands of lives, with children receiving critical support in the areas of education, healthcare, shelter, and vocational training.

Not only has Rapha Orphans Organisation created safe homes for orphaned children, but it has also established educational programs, vocational schools, and emotional support networks. Many children who have passed through Rapha's programs have gone on to complete their education, enter the workforce, and become advocates for other vulnerable children in their communities.

At Rapha, we are more than a charity. We are a family, committed to giving orphaned children the healing they deserve. Your donation no matter the size has the power to transform their lives and shape their future.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our work and how you can help

How does child sponsorship work?

When you sponsor a child for $500/month, you provide comprehensive support including nutritious meals, safe shelter, education with school fees and supplies, and healthcare with regular check-ups and emotional support. You'll receive regular updates on your child's progress and can even visit them in Uganda if you wish.

How much of my donation goes directly to programs?

85% of all donations go directly to our programs serving children and families. The remaining 15% covers administrative costs necessary to run our operations effectively. We're committed to transparency and publish our financial reports annually.

Can I visit the children and programs in Uganda?

Yes! We welcome visitors to our centers in Uganda. We organize annual trips for sponsors and donors to see our work firsthand and meet the children. Please contact us at least 3 months in advance to arrange a visit.

How do you select the children for your programs?

We work with local community leaders, schools, and churches to identify the most vulnerable children in Uganda. Our selection criteria include orphan status, family income level, health needs, and educational barriers. We prioritize children who have the least access to support systems.

Can I specify how my donation is used?

Yes! You can designate your donation to specific programs like education, healthcare, nutrition, or economic empowerment. You can also make a general donation that we'll use where it's needed most at the time.
